The following is in reference to CareerBuilder.com, an online jobs board, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

CareerBuilder Job Scam

I posted my resume on www.careerbuilder.com; I was solicited by a potential employer affiliated with CareerBuilder, Niamax Limited. The email was sent on CareerBuilder letterhead, as are many emails I receive from the CareerBuilder site. The soliciting company's website is www.niamax-ltd.com; this company is listed as doing business in the United Kingdom.

After expressing my interest with their company, I was emailed a legal document (employment contract) to email or fax back to them. The employer then conducted a preliminary "background check" on me and offered me a job. I agreed to work part-time for them as an independent contractor, processing payments from their customers in the United States. I was instructed that I needed to process these payments through Wells Fargo Bank, and would need to obtain a Wells Fargo Bank account if I currently didn't own one.

I accepted two payments (online transfers) into my Wells Fargo Bank account from two other Wells Fargo Bank customers that were supposedly Niamax customers. I was instructed to send the bulk of each payment to a specified business associate, after subtracting my 6% commission, and the Western Union transfer fee. I sent both payments to business associates in Athens, Greece by Western Union; both payments were picked up same day. One man's name was Cornet Deglos, the other was Cleys Mercken.

Wells Fargo Bank has now reversed the initial online customer transfers into my account, stating the transactions were unauthorized (hacked from the accounts of other Wells Fargo Bank customers). I am now responsible for the gross amount ($1977.30) of both unauthorized transactions into my account because I withdrew the money and sent it on, as instructed by my employer, Niamax Limited.

Wells Fargo Bank is not interested in discussing the fact that their system was breached by a hacker, or the fact that I only processed the payments. I asked Wells Fargo Bank why holds were not placed on these online transfers into a NEW account, but they gave no answers, and didn't provide me with an explanation.

Additionally, I notified CareerBuilder's Integrity Team regarding their affiliation with this employer. The representative stated CareerBuilder can't screen all employers utilizing their website, and that I should have read their fraud disclaimer, which is obscurely located in fine print on their website.

Below is the email letter I received from a Lady named Lauren Jacobsen, representing VeryComp LLC. Scam is they send me money into my bank account via wire in I take money to WU and send out subtracting my commission amount of 8% and the WU fees and the rest goes to whoever they tell me to send it to. I tried to research this company VIA BBB and they never heard of them like I figured. Some things are just too good to be true most of the time..
So add this to the list of emails received from people off of job websites.

Here is the followup info she sent me after I asked about her firm, what hours the job would be for, the pay involved and where the firm is located and where I would be working from:

Hello,

You were interested in the Financial Forwarding Coordinator position with VeryComp LLC, but unfortunately I haven't heard from you in a while. (I responded the next day to their email)

This is an on-line, home based position. There is no formal Interview process for this position and most of communication is done on-line. If you have any questions please feel free to call our HR department, the number is listed below.

For the most part what the job requires is for someone to be available Monday through Friday, 9 to 11 am. Your main job would be monitoring your on-line Task Manager, which you'll create on our site. Once the funds enter your account, your supervisor will notify you and assign you your tasks for the day. At this point you would go to your bank, withdraw the funds and transfer them using Western Union or Money Gram, as instructed by your supervisor.

In the beginning you will only receive 2 to 3 transactions per week. Every transaction is followed by an invoice with our company's seal. You would always be aware of where the funds are coming from and where they are being transferred to.

Make sure that you have read our FAQ: http://www.very-com..nance/faq

And here is the link to detailed job description: http://www.very-com..b/finance

Nice websites they have created above also, almost looks professional.

NEW OPTION:
If you have a Verified Premier or Business PayPal account, you can start earning as much as 10 commission!

Please let me know your decision within 2 business days for me to send you the required application forms for this position.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Lauren Jacobsen

Now they are posting their fake jobs on myvisajobs.com, looking for a 'Financial Forwarding Coordinator'. This is a jobs website for foreign nationals. Don't be tricked by these criminals! They can't get you a visa!

I too was sent an email after posting my resume on CareerBuilder.com ..But it was from vestaart-ltd.com. The job was for a Financial Forwarding Coordinator. I was too give them my account information and a supervisor would contact me with two transactions per week. I would get up to 10% commission plus salary. They even offered me benefits. I was told I could use my account not a Wells Fargo account though..Something about the offer didn't seem to be real..The website that they told me to access had a Trojan Horse in it ( Thank God for virus protection!). Her name was Jessica Green..She even emailed me her phone number and fax....I'm glad I found this website before agreeing to anything!

I received this email today - same version going around with my correct first and last name...but a new name from previous scam emails as sender. I was immediately suspicious as I did not post my resume on this site. Also, no company name was given and a gmail.com email address was used. This is not done by legitimate business people representing a real company.

This forum was very helpful in knowing what had landed in my mailbox. Thanks!

Alarm bells rang after his response, so I did a search as I go with the idea, if it sounds to good to be true, then it usually is.

The use of gmail accounts in the first place made me raise an eyebrow, but they their site asked for access to your account, which is not legal unless they are on a mandate held by your bank.

Hope this helps all.
