Window with title Diagnostic Traces after starting Windows
Question: Recently, everytime I boot Windows XP, a window 'Diagnostic Traces' is displayed. It shows these messages:
Below is a screenshot. Where does this come from?
Answer: Run MSCONFIG, and look if 'Diagnostic Startup' is checked (as shown in the screen below).
Instead the first option 'Normal Startup' should be selected.
It is unclear who changed the selection.
Then check in MSConfig on the 'Startup' tab, if there is a program 'ssdiag.exe' with a checkmark. Remove that checkmark. I found that it references to d:\windows\ssdiag.exe
I looked at the publisher of this file ssdiag.exe and found that it stated 'Copyright © 2004 Sonic Solutions'.
Sonic Solutions is the manufacturer of a CD burner software that I recently had re-installed on my laptop. We found the culprit! I found that it is safe to delete the 2 related files
